Hamilton, Ontario
Graduating with a Bachelor of Education

How did you pick your major of study, and why did you choose the University of Windsor?

I have always wanted to be a teacher and Windsor was an easy choice. My parents graduated from the Bachelor of Education program and I have lots of family in the area. And I really wanted to play basketball for Chantal (Vallée) and the Lancers.

What were your expectations of university? Has the University of Windsor met those expectations?

I was expecting this year to be really busy but very rewarding. It has been more then I could have ever imagined, I had no idea I would love my classes so much and get so much out of the program. The relationships I have built I will keep with me forever.

What would you say is the most important thing you have learned at university: about yourself, about other people, about your field of study, or about the world?

I learned that if you believe in yourself that you can achieve anything, Being successful in a sport is an incredible feeling but being successful in both school/practicum and sports was the most rewarding experience I have ever had.

What would you say has been the most memorable part of your UWindsor experience?

My most memorable moment would be winning a national championship with the women's basketball team in front of my friends, family and 2500 fans.

Please tell us why you are proud to be part of the University of Windsor’s graduating class of 2011.

I am proud to be apart of the graduating class because I know that I will leave this program a better teacher, friend, teammate and person. The lessons I learned this year transcend the classroom or the basketball court.

Did you have a course, professor or classmate who inspired you?

My teammates inspired me, my students inspired me and my coaches never gave up on me and would never let me give up on myself. I was so lucky to have Morgan Jean in all my classes and on my team so I did not have to be on this journey alone. I think we inspired each other.

What are your plans following graduation?

After graduation I hope to find a teaching job in the Hamilton area and take the lessons I have learned this year at the University of Windsor and share them, I hope to inspire other people to reach their full potential.
