UWindsor prepares to mark its 50th anniversary with events September 19 to 22.

A sense of place |
Patrons welcome student centre branding |
Window decals and banners both inside and outside the CAW Student Centre help to give the building a “sense of place,” said Kim Orr, president of the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance.
The new materials, created by the marketing and design firm Hargreaves Stewart, bear the message “You. Windsor.” and echo the theme of Lancer pride. They were installed over the summer, with Orr’s full-time undergraduate student government splitting the $45,000 cost with the Organization of Part-time University Students.
“We didn’t like how generic the student centre can feel sometimes. Once you’re inside, you feel like you could be anywhere,” Orr said. “I can’t wait for students to come back in September and see how we have dressed up the centre.”
Students in the centre welcomed the initiative.
“The decals will help to promote school spirit,” said fourth-year mechanical engineering student William Girard. “They’re kind of cool.”
Lola Abdul, who will begin studies in international relations this fall, agrees.
“I like them,” she said. “It makes this place look alive.”
