Integrity Matters
Information for Faculty
Faculty often approach the Academic Integrity Office with one of two questions: Do you have anything that might assist me in promoting academic integrity in my courses? OR What do I do if a student has cheated or I suspect a student of cheating?
This portion of the AIO website is designed to answer both those questions. With respect to promoting academic integrity, please visit the links to the left for tutorials, PPT presentations, ideas on how to prevent plagiarism, how to use Turnitin.com, and links to many academic integrity websites. Even more materials are located specifically under the “Educational Resources” main link.
If you are interested in using an Honesty Statement for your exams and assignments, please visit the Templates link. Also attached is our new AIO brochure. [AIO brochure] Please refer your students to it (it is also a link on the Welcome page) or order a class set by contacting the AIO. We will happily deliver a package to you!
To emphasize the importance of academic integrity, consider opening one of your classes with a “Student’s True Story,” available here: [Student's True Story]. This is one way to jumpstart the conversation on the importance of integrity and the risks of acting without it.
