About the Project
Food security is a huge issue for many students and the demand is very high. Some days more than 50 students in need access food and personal hygiene items. There are also a high number of international students accessing the food bank with different dietary restrictions and needs. Located in the basement of Canterbury College, the volunteer-run campus food bank is managed jointly by Iona and Canterbury colleges and is open four days each week for students to access food.
How will funds impact the work being done?
The food bank runs on donations from the local community and has no long term funding. Each year it is a great struggle to secure donations from the community. Any funds donated allows the food bank to go shopping for highly requested items, and to have a supply for students in the new year when shelves are empty and donations are harder to get.
Fundraising Goal: $2,500
