Alum Profile: Kieran Maddock

Kieran MaddockAfter completing his BAS degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences and Communications at the University of Windsor in 2012, Kieran attended Memorial University in St. John's, Newfoundland, where he began his graduate work examining the bioremediation of persistent organic pollutants in the subsurface at a Canadian Forces Base in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador. During this time, he had the opportunity to work with Newfoundland Housing as an Environmental Scientist, where he was able to make use of both his training in earth and environmental sciences and in communications. Here, he was involved in the remediation of subsurface heating oil spills, the review and development of corporate environmental policies, and the creation of an environmental management plan.

Having completed his Master of Environmental Science degree, Kieran returned to Ontario and is currently employed as a Geo-Environmental Scientist with exp, an international environmental and engineering consulting firm. In this position he is able to combine his undergraduate and graduate educations, predominantly conducting Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments and geotechnical investigations at contaminated sites and future developments throughout the GTA. Thanks to his undergraduate and graduate education and his work with exp, Kieran is working towards his P.Geo designation with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO).
