Application & Instructions

Students who have a documented permanent disabilty are eligible to apply for additional assistance that is available through the Bursary for Students with a Disability to assist them with educational related expenses related to their disability.

The OSAP definition of a permenant disability is a functional limitation that is caused by a physical or mental impairment that restricts the student's ability to perform the daily activities necessary to participate in studies at a postsecondary level or in the labour force, and that is expected to remain with him/her for the student's expected life.

Before applying to this program, students must first schedule an appointment through the Student Disability Services Offices to meet with an advisor in order to determine what type of accommodation(s) is required.  There are forms to complete between the student and advisor which once completed, are sent to the Student Awards & Financial Aid Office for budgetary approval.

Once approval is given, a confirmation letter is sent to the student, a cheque is requisitioned by the Cashiers/Accounts Payable Office and is available for pick up by the student.  Students can use this money to purchase/allocate their approved equipment or services.  Receipts must be submitted to either Student Disabiility Services or the Student Awards & Financial Aid Office within 30 days of the cheque being issued.  More information is provided to the student during their counselling session(s) with Student Disability Services.
