Odette MBA Society President receives Mayor’s Youth Achievement award

MBA Society President Paul Schlosser has received a Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee award for his outstanding work as President of the MBA Society and as fundraising coordinator for the Golden Futures project.  Golden Future is a student outreach project dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable youth in Cape Town, South Africa.

Paul continually demonstrates a commitment to his community and youth; he was previously awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Leadership Award in high school and has just returned from South Africa where he taught high school fundamentals in health and entrepreneurship to youth in Cape Town.

Through motivating his peers, interacting in the community via fundraisers, and acting as the MBA President at the University of Windsor, Paul leads by example, and inspires future alumni to give back to the community.

The purpose of the awards is to recognize youth who are making a difference in Windsor through Community Involvement, Volunteerism and Civic Engagement.  In addition to Paul Schlosser, awards were presented to Jeremy Houston, Gayhser Wah, and Dan Brown, four young Windsorites who are making a difference in their community.

Jonathon Liedtke, co-chair of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee, presented the awards; "I am very pleased at the caliber of applicants that we as a committee received for the inaugural Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee Youth Leadership Awards. The commitment each applicant has demonstrated to their community - be it through volunteerism, or civic engagement - is overwhelming, and indeed inspiring. Myself and my Co-Chair, Sarah Davidson, believe that recognizing youth in the community for their outstanding efforts is essential to retaining an engaged citizenry. Far too often do youth affect meaningful change in the community, without recognition; the YLA's were a means to ensure that outstanding youth received the recognition they deserve.”
