Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

Campus Community Police employs crime prevention into the actual design of campus spaces and buildings. We have several CPTED certified members.

Each year, we solicit campus volunteers to assist us to assess the campus to ensure that the proper security and safety of the campus environment is maintained. This includes an assessment of lighting and vegetation on campus, to factor-out potential criminal activity. We work with many campus departments including Facility Services in the on-going safety and security of our campus, to ensure that it is safe for our community members, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When new buildings are designed, or existing ones renovated, Campus Community Police routinely is asked to assist in the planning process and make recommendations that affect the safety and security of the end user.
