The Rapid Prototyping lab within the CEI allows students to bring to life their ideas, designs and projects. It is run by Dr. Jill Urbanic, an Assistant Professor and Undergraduate coordinator in the department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Windsor.
The lab features the Fortus 400mc, a 3D printing production machine, that can produce real parts for prototyping using a student’s CAD design file. Fortus systems use a wide range of thermoplastics. Appropriate materials can be used in order to achieve advanced mechanical properties so your parts can endure high heat, caustic chemicals, sterilization, and high impact applications.
The prototyping applications are an integral part of fourth year student’s Capstone Design projects.
