Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get a certificate?

A certificate is earned for each of the five day Third Party Neutral training courses. Students who complete all four TPN courses are awarded the Institute’s 160 hour Third Party Neutral Program Certificate at a graduation ceremony. Certificates are also awarded for each of the Workplace Conflict Management courses.

What can I do after I get a certificate?
The skills can be integrated and applied in your workplace both formally and informally. For some, the skills you learn can enhance your employability. Some people have become effective mediators after taking the training; some use their group process skills for planning conferences; some have initiated training within their own communities.

How large are the classes?
Third Party Neutral workshops are limited to twenty participants

Do I have to take all the courses and in what order?
In order to receive the 160 hour TPN program Certificate it is mandatory to take all four TPN modules. People must start with TPN 1 – Becoming a Third Party Neutral. For those taking the full Third Party Neutral program, TPN 3 – Developing Mediation Skills may be taken before TPN 2 – Developing Facilitation Skills, but TPN 4 – Principles, Practice and Reflections is reserved for those who have had TPN 1, 2 and 3.

What are the TPN pre-requisites?
There are no formal pre-requisites to taking the training. However, a Third Party Neutral is to be a conflict resolving person; this is a matter of attitude, desire and character.
