There are several ways we may be able to assist, including but not limited to, the following:
The Career Resource Guide for Faculty Advisors has been created to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions students ask about career services, job searching, development of employability skills, and career development.
Career Education:
We offer several resources and programs for students engaged in the career exploration and job search processes. We may be able to help you integrate this into your academic area inside the classroom through one of our presentations or outside the classroom by working with you to plan a targeted event.
Experiential Learning:
Simply put, experiential learning is learning by doing, and it can come in several shapes and sizes; from a one time in-class simulation to a semester-long internship with an outside organization. We believe that learning from experience is a fundamental element of a broad-based education and we’re eager to support you as you create or enhance opportunities available to the students in your academic area.
Referrals:
Students seek information and support from many sources across campus and we recognize that it’s not unlikely that you’ve served as a resource through your interaction with students engaged in the career exploration process. In addition to the valuable insight you can provide, the CCE is the central point on campus for students to bring their career-related questions and concerns to be addressed by our team dedicated to guiding the career development process.
Hiring Students:
For many students, the CCE is their primary point of contact for job search activities. We offer a variety of programs and services that can help you hire students into paid or volunteer job opportunities.
How can I integrate career education and experiential learning in my academic area?
In-Class Presentations:
The CCE can offer in-class presentations on a variety of topics such as Job Search Management or Resume Writing. Upon request, we can also customize a presentation to the subject you are teaching and discuss potential career options for a particular major. To schedule an in-class presentation, use our online Presentation Request Form.
Special Events:
If you would like to host a networking event or include a career education element in a student event you have already planned, we can help! For example, we could host an on-site resume clinic, deliver a presentation, or help you connect with employers who want to network with your students. Contact us by email at cce@uwindsor.ca or by telephone at ext. 3895 to see how we can work together!
Experiential Learning:
We are eager to partner with academic departments in the development and delivery of experiential learning initiatives. Whether you are already working on one that you would like to enhance, or are interested in developing something new, we would be happy to discuss how we may be able to help. We have also put together a document to outline the steps involved in launching a new initiative as well as the various ways we can assist you, click on the bullet point below:
