How can I refer students to the CCE programs and services?
Students seek information and support from many sources across campus and we recognize that it's not unlikely that you have served as a resource through your interaction with students engaged in the career exploration process.
The CCE offers a wide range of programs, services, and events for students at all levels and programs. Below is an outline of some common resources you may find helpful when referring students to our office:
-
ANGLE (A Net-based Gateway to Learning through Experience) – a web resource that introduces students to the concept of experiential learning by defining the types of opportunities available, outlining the benefits of participation, and providing links to some specific programs.
-
"Careers in my major..." Students can select their faculty and major to view a program specific list of potential career options, employability skills that employers are seeking, professional associations, labour market information, industry specific job search websites, and other websites of interest.
-
Experiential Learning Programs – In addition to supporting some departmental specific activities, the CCE coordinates the following programs:
-
Career Development (CCE Resource Page). An interactive resource page has been developed as a cyberguide to address student employment readiness questions. We have developed tools, resources and exercises to engage them in the career learning process and to assist in the preparation for the world of work. To access this new resource, students should be referred to the myCareer Resource Page.
-
Optimal Interview – Optimal Interview offers a realistic simulated interview experience. After logging on to this web-based learning tool, the user specifies the type and length of interview that he or she wants to practice and the questions appear on the computer screen in full-motion video and sound. Tutorials and positive modeling responses are available for every interview question. This tool can be used with or without a webcam.
-
Resume Clinic – Students can bring a paper copy of their current resume and one of our Peer Advisors will assist them in developing a resume sure to impress!
-
Job Postings – All full-time, part-time, summer, volunteer, contract, international and career opportunities are posted on the myCareer software system. Students will log in with their UWin ID and password.
We offer a wide variety of one-on-one appointments to students, to sign-up for an appointment with one of our Career Staff members, visit https://career.uwindsor.ca and schedule one at their convenience.
Please feel free to encourage students to contact us with any career-related inquiries. We would also be happy to have one of our staff members visit your class to talk to students about the programs, services and resources available to them.
