Drop-in anytime between 12:00 - 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 30th to meet with a representative from Devine Personnel. They will be on campus to promote two summer employment opportunities:
1. Marine Cargo Handlers: These are general labour (outdoor) positions on the West-end shipping docks. General responsibilities involve:
- Rigging cargo in the cargo bay of a ship with large chains and slings for crane discharge
- Cleaning cargo bay and removing excess pieces of metal banding, wood and garbage
- Working as part of a team to secure each outgoing load (ensure chains are secure, all personnel are safe and all equipment is functioning properly)
Employer is not on bus route. Rate of pay $14.55/hour plus over-time paid after 8 hours in a day. Ability to work on-call, weekends and late hours.
2) Production workers: These are general labour positions in a manufacturing environment. General responsibilities may involve:
- Packaging parts
- Operating equipment and machinery in a fast-paced production environment
- Operating manual and power-driving tools
- Inspecting parts for defects (i.e. metal burrs, bends, cracks etc.)
These are full time/6 day a week jobs ranging from $13-14/hour (based on position within the company). Ability to work all shifts, lift up to 50 pounds and work in high temperatures is required.
