Prasad is working at Vistaprint, Cimpress as an Industrial Engineer co-op. With a unique business model supported by proprietary technologies, high-volume production facilities, and direct marketing expertise, Vistaprint offers a wide variety of products and services that micro businesses can use to expand their business. A global company, Vistaprint employs over 2,800 people, operates 24 localized websites globally and ships to more than 130 countries around the world. “Working with Cimpress during the co-op term is really an amazing experience. Cimpress, being a global organization actually gives you a real world experience I have come across colleagues from different locations like USA, Spain and the Netherlands. Although, the languages of countries vary, the business corporate language and the communication traits for Cimpress are similar and I learned the meaning of “real world experiences” while working here.”
According to Prasad, “applying engineering knowledge and assisting the Engineering and Analytics Team with a high degree of distinction is the most fascinating and exciting term through out my program. One of the most important outcomes out of this experience is making corporate and business relations and understanding the manner to maintain them. Of course, the learning and work experience of the co-op will be counted in a future employment opportunity in addition to your appearance, soft skills and confidence in the work place matter as well”. Co-op provides you with an opportunity to be introduced and familiar with professional work environments that will become our workplaces in the future.
Prasad has certainly done a great job of taking the company’s motto “Make an Impression” to heart! He’s often seen wandering around on the production floor chatting with operators to learn more about what they do and how their machines operate so he can understand the whole company culture. According to his supervisors, this eagerness and interest is evident in all that he does as he’s constantly making valuable suggestions for improvements and adjustments.
When asked what tips Prasad would share with other co-op students seeking a similar work experience, he urged students to look beyond the City or the Province and be open to a variety of possibilities that co-op can offer. Prasad encourages students to “be considerate that every day you will have a new opportunity to learn something new, to do something new and to prove yourself in the field that you are employed within. Always be alert and aware of the things happening around you; an opportunity never tells you it’s on it’s way towards you, it just knocks on your door and it’s your turn now to grab it in an instant.
