2011 Campus Entrepreneurship Workshops
CEL students hosted three workshops for University of Windsor, St. Clair College and community entrepreneurs. Every workshop boasted approximately 50 entrepreneurs, while topics included starting your business, running your business and ecommerce. This initiative was part of the Business of Innovation Program, and will continue to be hosted annually.

Business Plan Competition
CEL students judged the Business Plan Competition held in Dr. Pasek’s 2nd year “Engineering Management & Globalization Course”. Engineering students designed their own product and created a company to support it; once these were finalized, they had 5 minutes to pitch their ideas to the judges who chose the top three winners. The competition was sponsored by the CEL, as well as the Ontario Centres of Excellence, who provided the prize money.

Business of Innovation Program Launch
CEL hosted a Business of Innovation Launch for members of the University of Windsor community, as well as the St Clair College community, in October. This event boasted approximately 100 people who were fortunate to hear from guest speakers Lora Crestan (Solstice Group), Gary Kalaci (Alexa Translations), Andy Kale (Red Piston), and Peter George (Gengrowth). This event highlighted the Business of Innovation program and officially kick-started the beginning of its activities through the CEL.
Music & English Workshops
CEL students have presented to students in Dr. Lee’s music course on legal and business issues, such as copyright, patents, marketing and finance. These have allowed music students to learn more on how to create businesses through their music and own personal brands.

CEL students have also presented marketing strategies and legal topics to students in Dr. Gervais’ English course, to aid them in developing ways to market local authors’ novels. Students then presented their ideas to the authors, who found their information useful and relevant.
