CJAM 99.1 FM is the University of Windsor’s campus community radio station. Since 1977, it has provided music and information programming not offered by commercial media.
Its small paid staff oversees an army of volunteers who run the station—many of them, but not all, UWindsor students.
With a 500-watt signal, CJAM broadcasts across Windsor and Essex County, as well as large parts of southwestern Michigan. The Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission approved a new signal for the station at 99.1 FM. When this move is completed, CJAM will be officially designated as a full power "Class A" radio station, with protected status.
