MY WORK WITH CBC SESAME STREET

  • I served as a member and then the Chair of the Board of Educational Advisors for CBC Sesame Street.

  • I spearheaded the effort to have the segments produced in the regions. When I began with the Board, production was based in Montreal, Winnipeg and Toronto. By the time I left the Board we had added centres in Vancouver, Regina, Halifax, St. John’s, and others.
I worked with composers and segment creators to have them include other musical genres and instruments in segments.

  • I helped develop guidelines for the production of segments focusing on the many cultures in Canada.
I conducted research showing the power of CBC Sesame Street segments in teaching French to Grade Twelve students in Nova Scotia.

  • One of my articles focused on Sesame Street in Canada.
Recently (2006) Sheila Rogers interviewed me on Sounds Like Canada as she featured CBC Sesame Street.
