Community partners led by the Brain Injury Association of Windsor & Essex County are hosting this annual event to raise awareness on the prevention, recognition, and management of concussions in sport. Dr. Joe Casey presents talk at Brain Injury Association of Windsor-Essex Concussion Workshop

November 24, 2016 -- Together with Mr. Chad Menard, the vice president of the Sun Parlour Female Hockey Association, SRCC psychologist Dr. Joe Casey presented a talk about the SRCC's partnership with local hockey at a concussion workshop presented by the Brain Injury Association of Windsor-Essex.

Windsor's local CTV station recently featured the SRCC partnership with local sports teams. Dr. Joe Casey, SRCC neuropsychologist, discusses this important collaboration aimed at improving sports concussion care.

Clinic partners with local girls' hockey league 

Students working at computersOctober 12, 2016 -- Reporting by the University of Windsor Daily News features our clinic's new partnership with the Sun Parlour Female Hockey Association! Through this effort, we are providing teams with education about concussion, as well as baseline testing for about 100 Windsor Wildcat players. Dr. Joe Casey, clinic neuropsychologist, discusses the partnership.

Research team receives grant to support neuro-imaging research at University of Windsor

February 5, 2015 -- A team of three researchers from the University of Windsor Psychology Department--including SRCC director Dr. Chris Abeare—were awarded a $75,000 Canada Foundation for Innovation grant to support research using functional near-infrared spectroscopy, or fNIRS.  This funding will support diverse research efforts within the Psychology Department, including research aimed at studying the brains of concussed athletes. The collaboration was recently featured on the "Research Matters" program on CJAM 99.1 FM.

Use Your Head! Concussion Workshop 

September 12, 2013--Dr. Chris Abeare, SRCC Neuropsychologist, gives a talk at the "Use Your Head" Concussion Workshop sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Windsor-Essex. His talk focused on the minority of athletes who experience concussion symptoms that persist beyond the expected recovery timeline (a few days to weeks).
