Christopher W. Tindale, Director & Research Fellow

Narrative

Professor Tindale joined the Philosophy Department at Windsor in 2006, moving from Trent University where he had been since 1989 and most recently was Chair of the Classics Department. In 2001-2002 he was a research fellow of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Bielefeld, Germany, where he was a member of a collaborative project on Conflict Resolution. In 2009-2010 he was Visiting Professor at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

Since 1995 Professor Tindale has been co-organizer of biennial Ontario Society for the Study of Argumentation Conferences, and since 2000 he has been co-editor of Informal Logic.

Research Interests

Argumentation Theory, Greek Philosophy and Moral Issue.

Current Research:

Professor Tindale has recently published a study of Sophistic Argument, titled Reason's Dark Champions, University of South Carolina Press, 2010. He is currently working on a philosophical theory of audience.
