“To Trust or Not: An Interdisciplinary View on Trust”
Abstract: Trust is a concept at the core of all relationships. Based on literature drawn from argumentation, philosophy, psychology, and managerial science, we will see what trust is and what trust is not. We will see the difference between the weak and the strong sense of trust, and then focus on the strong sense of trust, interpersonal trust. We will then look at research that shows the benefits of a high-trust work environment, and what the consequences are of a low-trust work environment. Finally, we’ll look at some strategies to build trust in the workplace.
I will ask that you suspend your normal audience role and imagine that you manage a department of Medical Radiation Technologists. Those people who are responsible for X-Ray, MRI, CT, Mammography, Angiograms, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine diagnostic imaging. I am looking for feedback on the presentation for this audience; I've been invited to talk at the Saskatchewan Association of Medical Imaging Manager’s Conference on trust. This is a dry-run of that talk.
