Connor Conlon began our Bachelor of Computer Science for University Graduates degree in Winter 2009 after acquiring his General B.A. in Psychology. After having experienced mountains of bureaucracy in order to get the smallest things approved, Conlon thought he may go insane, so he turned to something he always enjoyed doing, programming. Once he got into it, he fell in love with the study and knew that computer science was what he wanted to do with his life.
“The thing I enjoyed most was the camaraderie among the Computer Science students. It wasn't like the other subjects I've studied. We would all end up in the Java Lab doing our assignments and despite the MASSIVE amount of goofing off we all did there was always lots to learn from each other. Everyone was more than willing to help one another out no matter what year or subject. It had this great ‘We're all in this together’ vibe.” Conlon recently landed a position at Silicon Knights in St. Catherines, Ontario as a Tech/Tools Programmer. He accredits his success to the Artificial Intelligence for Games course he took with Dr. Scott Goodwin, and belonging to the MindcraftersTM research group, a group focusing on Artificial Intelligence.
Conlon states that his goals are to work hard at Silicon Knights and work towards getting into the field of video game AI. One of his personal goals is to keep learning. “Computer science is such a huge subject and I hope I never lose my drive to keep learning more about it.”
