Waterloo Black wins ACM Regional Competition

It was an amazing competition...with amazing moments.

A Toronto team solved their first question in 9 minutes...(can you read a question that fast, let alone code it in C++ ??). Waterloo Black solved all 9 out of 9 problems (with nearly an hour to spare) the only team in the entire region to accomplish this feat.

On October 21 and 22, Windsor hosted 25 teams, an increase from last year's 21 teams. There are 122 teams competing in the East Central North American Region (ECNA) at four different sites simultaneously.

Universities from all over the world bring their best programming teams of students to compete in a challenging 5 hour computer programming competition sponsored by IBM. Local winners from each institution qualify to participate in the Regionals and the winners of these regionals proceed to the International event being held in Warsaw, Poland in May 2012.

The top 5 teams in the East Central North American region were: 1. Waterloo Black, 2. Toronto A, 3. CMU, 4. U Michigan, 5. Waterloo Gold.

Locally, out of the 25 Ontario teams Windsor placed: 16th Windsor Gold, 17th Windsor Silver, and 18th Windsor Black, beating teams from York, Ryerson, Guelph, Fanshawe, Brock and UOIT.

In addition, this event promotes the competitive spirit and inspires in our students an unprecedented experience to excel as they mingle with the best student programmers in Ontario. An exceptional learning experience for our students!
