Dorothy Spiller

Dorothy Spiller is a Senior Lecturer in the Teaching Development Unit at the University of Waikato, Hamilton New Zealand. She has a background in English Literature, has taught at school and university level and has also worked in the area of student learning support. She has worked in academic development for 14 years. She is currently the co-ordinator and main teacher of workshops for academic staff, provides individual consultations for academic staff on all areas of teaching and assessment, and teaches the Postgraduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching. She is editor of the Teaching Development Unit’s magazine and co-ordinates both the mentoring and induction programmes for university staff. Her research interests include course design and assessment, academic leadership, mentoring and student evaluations. Her personal interests include reading, hiking, creative writing and travel. She is delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues at the University of Windsor.
