The Alan Blizzard Award

  • Established to encourage, identify, and publicly recognize those whose exemplary collaboration in university teaching enhances student learning
  • Seeks to make visible and disseminate scholarship of teaching and learning, based on values and practices of collaborative teaching
  • Highlights excellence in collaborative university teaching and learning
  • Seeks to foster recognition, visibility, and appreciation for effective collaboration in university teaching and learning
  • $2,000 in funding will be awarded to assist with travel to the annual STLHE Conference
  • This award is retired as of 2022

3M National Teaching Fellowships

  • Created in collaboration with the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) in 1986 with the creation of the 3M National Teaching Fellowships.
  • Recognizes teaching excellence as well as educational leadership
  • Up to ten Fellowships are awarded each year
  • The award includes a citation and an invitation to participate in a three-day retreat at Chateau Montebello in Quebec
  • Nominations for the Fellowships are submitted by teachers on their own behalf, or by their colleagues

D2L Innovation Award in Teaching and Learning

  • Established in 2012, the D2L Innovation Award in Teaching and Learning, sponsored by D2L (Desire2Learn), celebrates and recognizes up to five post-secondary educators each year for their innovative approaches that promote student-centred teaching and learning
  • D2L Innovation Award in Teaching and Learning is international and open to applicants from all countries
  • Applications are invited from individuals with a demonstrable record of innovation(s) in areas including pedagogical approaches, teaching methods, course design, curriculum development, assessment methods, and various tools or technologies that enhance learning and have had a significant impact
