Novice debaters make mark in California competition

A pair of business students ranked among the top novice teams at an American Parliamentary Debate Association tournament this past weekend at Stanford University.

The Odette School of Business fielded the only Canadian debate team to the event, which featured more than 30 squads from across the United States. The UWindsor students – Alyssa Atkins, Peter Guba, Ankur Karnik, Will Kruger, Andrew Moukled, Moe Murtadi and Mike Ruffolo – were victorious in about half of their debates.

Atkins and Moukled won recognition as the fifth-ranked novice team; Atkins finished fourth overall in the individual novice speakers category.
