Documentary traces journey of Ugandan refugees

The International Wednesdays documentary series presents the Oscar-nominated film War/Dance, Wednesday, February 29, at noon in the International Student Centre on the second floor of Laurier Hall.

In northern Uganda, the rebel Lord’s Resistance Army has bolstered its ranks with a cruel tactic—kidnapping children and forcing them into service as soldiers and sexual slaves. Robbed of their homes, their parents, and their childhoods, victims flood into refugee camps.

In this 2007 film, nominated for the Academy Award as best documentary feature, filmmakers Sean Fine and Andrea Nix follow the children from one camp’s primary school as they prepare for Uganda's National Music Competition.
