Scholarship win sounds a high note for voice student

Lisette Gagnon started off singing the blues Sunday, but the second-year music student was singing a different tune when she won the Ron W. Ianni Memorial Scholarship in Performance.

Gagnon, a specialist in jazz and pop singing, performed “No More Blues” by Antonio Carlos Jobim during the recital, which pitted her against eight competitors for the award. She said she was honoured and excited to have emerged victorious.

The $500 prize was established by Mina Grossman-Ianni and the School of Music in 2005 to honour the late president of the University of Windsor.
