Lancer men’s hockey to open defense of Queen’s Cup tonight

The Lancer men’s hockey will have some bling to show off during its season opener tonight—Wednesday, October 1—as the Queen’s Cup will be on display at South Windsor Arena. First awarded in 1903, the cup is the second-oldest hockey trophy still being played for, behind only the Stanley Cup.

The Lancers won the prize last year, their first championship since 1998. Fans will have a chance to relive that glory, as each will receive a commemorative 2014 Queen’s Cup Championship team poster. The team is also selling jerseys worn during the 2014 final for just $25 each.

Windsor will face off against the Guelph Gryphons tonight; the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Find a season preview at goLancers.ca. South Windsor Arena is located at 2555 Pulford Street.
