Nominations open for awards to recognize the jewels of student affairs team

The organizing committee is now seeking nominations for the annual GEM Awards, which recognize the staff of Student Awards who embody the Going the Extra Mile (GEM) philosophy.

The Faculty or Staff Nominated GEM Award is given to a member of the Student Affairs team who has provided first class service to students, faculty or staff members and is nominated by a faculty or staff member outside of the Student Affairs areas.

The Lifetime GEM Award is given to a UWindsor faculty or staff member who has throughout their career, provided leadership, vision and support to students or the Student Affairs team. This person can be nominated by students, staff or faculty from any department.

The Partner GEM Award is given to an on- or off-campus partner who has worked with the Student Affairs team to provide first class service to students.

The Peer Nominated GEM Award is given to a member of the Student Affairs team who has provided first class service to students, faculty, or staff and is being recognized for their service by their peers (another member of the Student Affairs team).

Student Nominated GEM Award is given to a member of the Student Affairs team who provides first class service to students and is being recognized for their service by a student.

Members of the Student Affairs team work in these areas:

  • Aboriginal Education Centre;
  • Academic Integrity Office;
  • Campus Community Police;
  • International Student Centre;
  • Office of the Vice Provost, Student Affairs and Dean of Students;
  • Residence Services;
  • Student Counselling Centre; and
  • the Student Success Centre (Academic Advising, Career Services, Co-op, Disability Services, LEAD@UWindsor, Orientation Programs. STEPS, Transitional Support, Writing Support, Volunteer Internship Program).
