Multi-medal performance secures 1996 track title for Lancer women

The 1996 national track and field championship was one for the record books, as the Lancer women took top team honours for a record fifth straight year.

Windsor sprinter Venolyn Clarke was named Female Athlete of the Meet after winning individual gold in the 60m and 300m races and anchoring the Lancers to gold in the 4x200m and bronze in the 4x400m relays.

The memorable tournament was the third hosted at the St. Denis Athletic complex. Kinesiology student Richard Johnston has prepared a series of articles—one on each of nine previous occasions Windsor has held the meet, leading up to the March 12 opening of this year’s tournament.
