German artists to discuss approaches to public space

German-based Folke Köbberling and Nils-Arne Kässens, known for their ‘structural interventions,’ will make a free public appearance in the School of Creative Arts, Thursday, October 1, to talk about their work and their current project in Detroit.

Köbberling is an artist based in Berlin whose architectural and urban interventions present an aesthetic of resistance to the disappearance of public space. Kässens is a stage director and curator based in Hamburg. His projects combine new media and public space to bridge artistic practice with cultural theory.

They will speak from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in room 115, LeBel Building. The event is the first in the 2015-16 SOCA Presents series.
