Madcap comedy to take to Essex Hall stage

University Players presents the madcap comedy Scapino! by Frank Dunlop and Jim Dale. This fast-paced, zany show runs from November 27 to December 6 in the Essex Hall Theatre.

Naples, Italy, has never been such riotous fun. Two young couples have fallen in love but their miserly old fathers disapprove of the matches. When the lovers ask the fast-talking, quick-thinking servant Scapino to help them, his wily brilliance and outrageous silliness come to the rescue.

“This play brings the audience right into the story and connects with them,” explains director Jim Warren. “It’s theatre for the sake of having a fun evening, laughing with other people and reminding ourselves that people still do crazy things in the name of love.”

This all-ages play is a perfect way to get in a jolly holiday spirit.

Tickets can be ordered online at www.UniversityPlayers.com or by calling 519-253-3000, ext. 2808. Performances Wednesday through Saturday are at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. On Sunday, November 29, a free “Talk Back” discussion with the director and actors will follow the performance.
