Audiences applaud Players’ production

Audiences leaving Essex Hall Theatre have been unanimously favourable about Scapino! the current production of University Players, says publicity coordinator Anna Galka. She stands in the lobby to gauge reactions as patrons stream out: “I haven’t heard one bad comment yet.”

The all-ages play, by Jim Dale and Frank Dunlop, follows the madcap antics of fast-talking servant Scapino, enlisted to help two young couples overcome paternal objections to their romances.

Oliga Tserakhava, coordinator of employee engagement and development for human resources, took in the play Saturday. She calls it a great show.

“I took my mom to see it and she enjoyed it so much,” she says. “I was not surprised at all—the actors always do such a great job. Every University Players show I’ve gone to is a treat not to be missed.”

The play will run through December 6, with evening performances at 8 p.m. and matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets can be ordered online at www.UniversityPlayers.com or by calling 519-253-3000, ext. 2808.
