Authors to sign local history book Thursday

UWindsor employees will have a chance to save on purchases at the Campus Bookstore, Thursday, December 10, as it holds a discount day. Faculty and staff can scratch and save from 10 to 25 percent on everything—excluding textbooks, computers, gift cards and already-sale-priced items.

Chris Edwards and Elaine Weeks of Walkerville Publishing will be on hand promoting two new books on local history: their own Walkerville: Whisky Town Extraordinaire, and Hiram Walker’s Railroad: the Lake Erie and Detroit River Railway by David Guay. The two will sign copies of their book between noon and 2 p.m.

It promises a fascinating journey from the days of the area’s French settlers and First Nations people to the present, through its time as home not only to the world-famous whisky, but the birthplace of the Canadian automotive industry and centre of cross-border smuggling during the wild days of Prohibition.
