Saturday promising Lancer fans lots of varsity action

Fans of Lancer sports will have plenty to choose from this weekend, with home games for basketball, volleyball, and men’s hockey.

Lancer volleyball will hold court in the St. Denis Centre to host the McMaster Marauders on Friday, January 29, and the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, January 30. Women play at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. both nights.

Men’s hockey will face off against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday and the Ryerson Rams on Saturday; both games enjoying 7:30 p.m. starts at South Windsor Arena. Saturday is seniors’ night. Fans will have a chance to applaud graduating players before what will be the final home game of the regular season.

Basketball will open Saturday in the St. Denis Centre with an exhibition game featuring alumni of the men’s program at 10 a.m. before the varsity action gets underway. Windsor will take on the Waterloo Warriors, with the men tipping off at 1 p.m. and the women at 3 p.m.

The women’s hockey team is on the road for a pair of games in Toronto, playing Ryerson on Friday and the Varsity Blues on Saturday. Track and field athletes will divide to conquer, competing over the weekend in the McGill Team Challenge, the Findlay Open, the York Team Challenge and the Spire Open.
