Law school to host international competition

Windsor Law will host teams from about 20 countries for the International Client Consultation Competition, April 27 to 30.

The competition simulates a law office consultation: two students receive a written memorandum identifying the general nature of the client’s problem, and then conduct an interview with a person playing the role of the client. This year’s subject is matrimonial issues.

Teams must elicit the relevant information from the client, explain the relevant laws, present the client with options, and assist the client to select a preferred resolution. The students are evaluated using criteria that emphasize listening, questioning, planning, and analytical skills in a lawyer-client interview.
