Downtown campus among doors to open this weekend

If you haven’t seen the new home of the School of Social Work and the Centre for Executive and Professional Education, this weekend is your chance.

Tours of the Pitt-Ferry Building, 167 Ferry Street, are available Saturday and Sunday during Doors Open Windsor.

The structure provides up-to-date classrooms, research labs, offices and meeting spaces behind the historic facade of the former Windsor Star newspaper building. The original 1927 limestone exterior is an example Beaux-Arts design with details in copper and carved stone.

Guides will be on hand for the event, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 24 and 25.

Doors Open offers an opportunity to learn about local history and architecture. This year’s program features an eclectic mix of the new, the old and the re-purposed. Find a full list of participating sites on the event website.
