President Wildeman extends University of Windsor’s sympathies following tragic fire

The University of Windsor was notified early Wednesday morning by Windsor Police Service that a house fire on Rankin Avenue claimed the life of one of our students, Andrew Kraayenbrink.

Several other students escaped the blaze and are receiving medical treatment. No further details are available at this time.

Our sympathies are extended to the family of the deceased. The University, with the assistance of the Red Cross, will be doing all it can to provide assistance to those who survived.

I want to sincerely thank University staff and neighbourhood residents who are reaching out to provide assistance to those affected by this terrible tragedy.

Alan Wildeman
President and Vice-Chancellor
