Sale of prints to benefit scholarship in memory of arts professor

A public offering of more 4,000 prints for sale will benefit a scholarship fund established as a memorial to late professor Daniel Dingler, who died in July 2015. His UWindsor career, which began in 1970, included founding the lithography studio in the School of Visual Arts.

The “Prints Charming” sale will feature works created by students over 40 years of printmaking in the studio. Lithographs, original etchings, relief prints, most will sell for less than $20 — all for less than $100.

The event is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, December 10, at the Art Gallery of Windsor, 401 Riverside Drive West. It is hosted by the Windsor Printmakers’ Forum, whose development fund will share in the proceeds.

“A beautiful and diverse proof archive, such as this collection, reflects the quality and talent of the many artists who have created art in the studio throughout the years,” says forum president Kacie Auffret. “We are so grateful to the thousands of students in the printmaking department at the University of Windsor for making such extraordinary works over the last 40 years.”
