Reading to introduce writer-in-residence to campus community

Writer, critic, and visual artist Donato Mancini, the UWindsor writer-in-residence for fall 2017, will read from his recent work in a free public event Wednesday, September 27.

Dr. Mancini describes his latest book, Same Diff, as meeting “at the intersection of poetry, contemporary art, documentary cinema and social history.

“Influenced by documentary cinema such as the films of Frederick Wiseman, Dada poets, montage techniques, and a range of modern poets, Same Diff explores the way social and economic histories become imprinted within language itself,” he says.

Mancini’s previous works include the book-length poem Snowline (2015), the poetics reflections Loitersack (2014), the critical survey You Must Work Harder to Write Poetry of Excellence (2012), and the poetry collection Buffet World (2011).

Wednesday’s reading begins at 4 p.m. in Katzman Lounge, Vanier Hall. Mancini’s books will be available for purchase and signing. Watch for more information about activities planned for his residency in a future edition of DailyNews.
