David BobierMedia artist David Bobier will lead participants in a workshop Thursday to develop an artistic work that has accessible tools built into it.

Inclusive media subject of Thursday presentation

A free presentation Thursday will explore the cultural history and current practices of deaf and disability arts.

David Bobier is a hard-of-hearing media artist and the parent of two deaf children. He will introduce the concept of the Social Model of Disability and showcase his research on the use of vibro-tactile technology in an animated lecture and workshop October 19 sponsored by the School of Creative Arts.

Participants will be asked to think about the nature of diversity and inclusion in the arts, consider the excluded and imagine the notion of accessibility for all in the arts and finally to explore ideas, both independently and collaboratively, for integrating accessibility into creative practice.

The event is set for 2:30 p.m. at Hackforge, 255 Ouellette Avenue. Learn more on the school’s website.
