Campus blood donor clinic a chance to give the best gift

Donating blood is the best gift you can give this holiday season, says Marisa Gatfield of Canadian Blood Services.

A campus donor clinic on Wednesday, November 29, offers students, faculty, and staff an early start to their gift-giving. It will run 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the CAW Student Centre’s Ambassador Auditorium.

“Our target for this clinic is 86 units of blood,” Gatfield says. “That essentially translates into we need 120 people to attend the clinic.”

She encourages anyone attending to bring a friend.

“In Windsor, we are in need of blood and blood products every day,” says Gatfield. “It’s important for us to maintain a healthy donor base.”

Walk-in donors are welcome, but appointments will better accommodate donors’ working schedules. To book an appointment, call 1-888-2DONATE (1-888-236-6283).

As with previous clinics, the Department of Human Resources encourages all eligible employees to participate in this worthwhile process and asks any who wish to donate to make the necessary arrangements with their supervisors regarding the possibility of extended lunch or break periods.
