Music Building going but not forgotten

Demolition of the former Music Building on the southwest corner of Sunset Avenue at Wyandotte Street is underway, with heavy equipment taking down walls and ceilings Tuesday.

“The building coming down has created a rush of memories for all who had the opportunity to learn there,” says School of Music alumnus Tim Brunet (BA 1994), now the social media co-ordinator in the UWindsor Office of Public Affairs and Communications.

“There have been recitals, lessons, rehearsals, festivals, parties, receptions, and so much more. We made lifelong friends, and some musicians even got hitched!”

Brunet met his wife Ann Marie Vanaudenaerde (BMus 1995) while they both studied there.

He is collecting and posting photos of the School of Music on the University of Windsor Facebook page to capture memories of other students who enjoyed formative experiences there.

He invites anyone to send him pictures along with a brief comment to tbrunet@uwindsor.ca, and asks contributors to ensure that all subjects consent to making an image public.
