Grad’s commercial under consideration for cinematography prize

A UWindsor grad will find out this weekend whether he will win a national award in cinematography or the second straight year.

Communication, media, and film alumnus Matt Bendo (BA 2014) is nominated in the category “branded content” by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for his production “Legacy,” promoting the Toronto-based boxing academy Kombat Arts. Watch it here.

Bendo directed and edited the commercial, as well as heading its cinematography, for the TrePalm production company. He won the award last year for his work on “Storm,” an advertisement of custom exhausts created by Armytrix for Lamborghini luxury automobiles.

“It is truly an honour to be nominated alongside award-winning cinematographers of such high calibre like Kris Belchevski, Goh Iromoto, and Daniel Grant,” he said. “To be nominated by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers for something I am so passionate about two years in a row is an incredible feeling.”

The society will announce winners of this prize and those in other categories at its 61st awards gala on Saturday, April 14, at the Arcadian Court in Toronto.
