Community open house to showcase vision for downtown corridor

A community open house will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, to share the University of Windsor’s vision of a pedestrian corridor and green space on Freedom Way between Park Street and University Avenue East.

The Freedom Way Link is envisioned as a community space providing students and citizens with a place to study, socialize, and gather for such fresh-air events as film viewings, music and drama performances, art exhibits, public lectures, and seasonal festivals.

As a neighbourhood gathering spot, the Link will bring life and vibrancy to the district while extending a campus feel outdoors and beyond the walls of the Armouries and the Alan Wildeman Centre for Creative Arts — while retaining access to local businesses.

During the open house, the public is invited to share their views on artist renderings of the imagined space, which will be displayed in the fenced area of Freedom Way. Inclement weather will relocate the event into the Making Studio in the Wildeman Centre.
