Staffer ready to help secure science and engineering research funds

Helping UWindsor researchers secure funding for their projects is the top priority for the newest staff member in the Office of Research and Innovation Services.

“We want to make sure that Windsor is leading the way,” says Sara Kenno, who took on the role of research funding officer for science and engineering on August 21, succeeding Inga Sliskovic.

Her role involves helping faculty members, especially those new to the University, submit proposals for grants to funding agencies including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council — everything from explaining the application process to providing feedback on drafts.

And Dr. Kenno has hit the ground running. Joining the UWindsor staff after five years working in industry is a homecoming of sorts for the three-time grad (BASc in civil engineering 2007, MASc 2009, PhD 2013).

“I have definitely enjoyed a warm welcome here,” she says. “I am looking forward to meeting the faculty and getting to know their areas of research.”

She invites researchers looking for assistance in applying for research funding to contact her at 519-253-3000, ext. 3918, or skenno@uwindsor.ca.
