Training in UWinsite Student to start soon

The University’s new student information platform, UWinsite Student, is set to launch on November 26.

UWinsite Student is replacing the current Frank L. Smith Student Information System which is commonly known on campus as SIS, Forte, or myUWindsor.ca.

To assist with the transition to UWinsite Student, the UWinsite team is offering five weeks of training sessions for faculty and staff starting on Monday, October 22, and running through Friday, November 23.

During the pre-go live training period, more than 90 unique courses will be offered — many multiple times. These courses will cover all UWinsite Student modules, including Student Records, Financial Aid, Student Financials, Academic Advisement, Campus Community, and Student Admissions.

To help the campus community navigate UWinsite Student training, role-based learning paths have been identified for each faculty or staff member who will regularly interact with UWinsite Student in some way. These learning paths are the output of a campus-wide role-mapping exercise and outline the required courses each role requires, and the sequence in which the courses need to be taken.

“More than 70 different learning paths have been designed,” says Marcela Ciampa, director of organizational development and training, Department of Human Resources, and training lead for the UWinsite Project. “This tailored approach strives to assist faculty and staff in the identification of the courses that are relevant to their roles and responsibilities.”

Training invitations, including learning paths, will start to be issued by email later this week from uwinsitetraining@uwindsor.ca. Faculty and staff are encouraged to register for their identified courses as soon as they receive the email.

Questions regarding UWinsite Student training can be emailed to uwinsitetraining@uwindsor.ca.
