Lancer and NHL alums join men’s hockey coaching staff

Former NHLer Todd Warriner, Lancer alumnus Mike Christou, and Michigan native Frank Furdero will join head coach Kevin Hamlin behind the bench for the Lancer men’s hockey team’s 2019-20 campaign.

A former Windsor Spitfire drafted in the first-round by the Quebec Nordiques, Warriner played for the National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators. Hamlin credits that experience as giving him an “incredible amount” of knowledge.

“We have a relationship that transcends the game and I am looking forward to working with him and our Lancer program,” says Hamlin.

Christou played four seasons with the Lancers, including on its 2014 Queen’s Cup championship squad. He will specialize in training players to defend in short-handed penalty-kill situations.
