New materials to help guide incoming students

A new website, registration guide, and how-to-register video will support the transition from admitted student to registered student.

Leveraging the power of UWinsite Engage, learn.uwindsor.ca/next-steps creates a tailored, mobile-friendly web experience that walks entering Fall 2019 students through the actions they need to complete before their UWindsor student career begins on Sept. 5. It includes information on choosing first-year courses based on program as well as how to contact an academic advisor.

The registration guide explains registration fundamentals as well as outlines the step-by-step process for registering for classes in UWinsite Student.

The how-to-register video shows students how to register for classes in UWinsite Student. It is presented by two current students — Dominique Baillargeon and Hassan Shaban.

The guide and video are applicable to entering students and current students so can be accessed from learn.uwindsor.ca/next-steps and uwindsor.ca/registrar/resource/student.

“The development of this new suite of materials was truly a collaborative effort,” says Alice Miller, University Registrar. “Specifically, I would like to thank the faculties, the Office of Enrolment Management, the Student Success and Leadership Centre, Open Learning, and Public Affairs and Communications for their contributions.”

The new website, guide, and video will be highlighted for incoming students via a mailed postcard as well as email. Faculty, staff, and current students are also encouraged to use and share these resources to help incoming students navigate the start of their Lancer journey.
