Hockey home-and-away to highlight varsity weekend

The men’s hockey team will play a home-and-away series against the Western Mustangs in a highlight of the weekend’s Lancer action.

The squads will face off at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Centre at noon on Friday, Nov. 22, and will meet again in London at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

The women’s hockey team will also host Western, playing at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Centre.

Volleyball will be home to take on the Nipissing Lakers on Friday and the York Lions on Saturday. Both nights the women play at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. in the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

Lancer basketball is in Sault Ste. Marie to tip off against the Algoma Thunderbirds. On Friday, the women will play at 6 p,m. and the men at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the women play at 4 p.m. and the men at 6 p.m.

For fans unable to attend in person, all the games above will be webcast live on on www.oua.tv. Those cheering on the players in person are reminded to bring a donation for the Lancer Holiday Clothing Drive. Staff will accept contributions of children’s coats and other clothing items in good condition. Winter coats, hats, and mittens are highly desired, and cash is always gratefully accepted.

The weekend will wrap up with the season’s start to track and field competition — the annual blue and gold intersquad meet runs Sunday and Monday in the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
